Q.) What is a streetboard?

Oldschool style streetboard (snakeboard) design

The world's very first ever streetboard (snakeboard) prototype.

A.) A streetboard (also known as a snakeboard) is a form of skateboard which is made up of two pivoting footplates with trucks & wheels underneath, joined together by a central crossbar.
The rider stands with one foot on each footplate, and using the force generated by upper-body movement in conjunction with turning the feet in & out, propells the board forward in a snake-like motion.
Streetboarders will usually attach foot straps or bindings to their board to enable them to perform tricks and have greater control. Streetboards can be ridden without bindings, however it is not recommended.
There are many different variations of the streetboard, however they all work on the same principal and have the same core design. For more information, visit the board design section of our website.

Q.) Can you do tricks on a streetboard?

Streetboarding (snakeboarding) tricks & stunts

A.) Absolutely. Whilst carving around the streets is fun and all - Throwing down tricks is the best part of streetboarding. You will need to have a good quality set of foot straps attached to your board, and obviously we recommend wearing the appropriate protective gear.
Streetboarders can do grinds, spins, aerial tricks, grabs, body flips & twists, combo's etc. - You can do all the exact same tricks on a streetboard as you do in snowboarding and skateboarding (minus kickflips etc. obviously). Just check out some of the videos of streetboarders in action on YouTube! Riders are doing double backflips, 450 boardslides, backflips onto handrails, and all kinds of other crazy tricks.

Q.) How do you ride a streetboard?

A.) Surprisingly enough the hardest thing about streetboarding is not the tricks, but actually learning to actually ride the board in the first place! Most people will stand on the board and their feet will be turning in and out one way, their arms/body the other way, and usually they will fall flat on their arse within a couple of minutes. Quite entertaining to watch!
You need to understand how the board works before you will be able to ride it. But once you've figured it out, it's really very simple and is just a matter of coordination, practice and patience. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 days to learn how to streetboard.
We have put together a short instructional video which breaks it down for you and makes it very easy to understand.

Q.) If I can ride a skateboard, will I be able to ride a streetboard?

A.) It all comes down to your understanding of how the board works and your body coordination skills. Sure, you might pick it up quicker and have better balance than someone who's never ridden a skateboard before - But at the end of the day it comes down to practice. We believe that anyone can do anything if they practice enough.
Generally skateboarders and snowboarders learn tricks on streetboards much faster, due to the similarities between the sports.
